Brick and Mortar

August 7, 2018

As I drive along residential streets, I can’t resist looking around and admiring the homes lined on either side. I love houses, I always have, inside and out. But without going inside, all the homes I observe tell me a story, just by looking at their exterior, the façade. Time after time I admire how powerful is the statement a façade can make. If I called it First Impressions, you would know perfectly what I mean. It's that YES! or NO! instinctive and immediate response we get on seeing something for the very first time. Just like when placing your property on the market, first impressions are worth thousands, charming and inviting or discouraging the investor's mood, the façade of your own home does exactly that to you and others, creating a sense of beauty and welcome; or not.

So, if you’re looking to establish how your home should look and looking for a finish offering durability, low maintenance, insulation qualities, affordability as well as a vast range of colours and finishes to choose from, then you don't have to look any further than BRICKS. Standing for thousands of years, brick walls are a testimony of quality, resilience and beauty. Besides the occasional brush to remove any dust, bricks are maintenance free, perfect for keeping hot temperatures out in summer but warmth inside when needed. Brick homes are not susceptible to insect damage, are rain-water safe and also fire resistant. Did you know that home insurance costs are lower for homes built of bricks?

Are you still stuck on the image of plain red brick homes? Gone are the days of plain looking bricks, as there are so many choices on the market to satisfy any look you may want. In fact, the range I present to my clients is so exciting that the only problem they have is which one to prefer. The choice of one brick over another is certainly going to assert the style and mood of your home, but gone are also the days of not being sure which look to go for. PGH Bricks has prepared stylish sets for you to choose from or get inspired by. So, which style are you? Click here and take the QUIZ to find out.

Traveling the world I always stop and admire the use of bricks in historical buildings and am constantly amazed at their durability and surviving good looks. This material has inspired confidence and admiration for millennia. But history aside, I want you to imagine coming back from a long day at work and being welcomed by a home which is solid, feels safe and offers contemporary looks... a brick home ticks all the boxes.

"Bricks and mortar" doesn't just define the classic Aussie family dream, but also an Australian favourite external choice of materials. And the possibilities don't end with the façade, as bricks come nowadays in bright colours, different finishes and different shapes, making this material also great for many internal uses... but that's another blog.

Now, going back to those classic red bricks, before you write them off, you may be surprised at the new looks and tones in these old favourites, as well as the wide colour choices in contemporary styles available… click here and get inspired with the many options at PGHBricks.com.au
