As a cold winter arrived it pushed us finally to tackling the heating and cooling issues for the Umina Springs house. Although it wasn't a top priority initially, we should have planned for it sooner, of course. During the renovation we have upgraded with new insulation and double-glazed windows, which have significantly moderated the indoor temperature, but while summer has been comfortable with sea breezes and skylights aiding ventilation, winter mornings and evenings on the Central Coast have been quite cold. Fortunately, air conditioning can be retrofitted into existing homes. With some planning and effort, the AmpleAir team got ready to handle the installation of a Rinnai ducted system
During construction, integrating a ceiling system was challenging due to the complexity of the work. Now, as we retrofit, we're installing a three-zone system, allowing us to control and heat or cool specific areas of the home. The electricity for this system will come from our rooftop solar panels, ensuring energy efficiency. With this setup, we should comfortably enjoy the home throughout both cooler and warmer months. We've been looking forward to it.

Another issue when it came to installing air conditioning was that we didn't want to put any vents in the ceiling. The solution for this, we got to work with the install team, was to put the vents on the inside of the skylights. Practically invisible :)
The vent was actually manufactured for us. They can make these to any size and they can also powder-coat them to a colour that you'd like, making sure it's firstly practical to make the air conditioning run properly but then also an aesthetic choice.
Now that the Rinnai AirCon Ducted System is finally installed, our house is even more welcoming. We can sit back and enjoy our beautiful home with a perfect temperature all year round.
