A Fair Not To Miss

Every year there are countless product launches, supplier showcases and industry events across Australia. Yet there is one date I always encourage designers, decorators, architects, retailers and builders to keep free in their calendar: Decor + Design.
In recent years we've seen several new trade events emerge, many with a strong focus on building products, materials and construction technology. That's a fantastic addition to our industry, but Decor + Design continues to lead the conversation when it comes to furniture, interiors and styling. It's not only where many of tomorrow's design trends first appear, but also one of the best opportunities each year to catch up with colleagues, meet new suppliers and strengthen the relationships that keep our industry moving forward.
There’s also plenty on offer for the next generation of designers, with daily events tailored especially for design students. One exciting addition for 2026 is Ready, Set, DESIGN!, a new student competition at Decor + Design, where teams from leading design schools will take on live design challenges over two days. Judged by Dina Kalpouzos, James Treble and Lucy Sutherland, it’s a wonderful opportunity to see fresh talent, quick thinking and the future of Australian design in action.
One of D+D highlights each year is the VIVID Design Awards. I always enjoy walking through the finalists because they showcase much more than beautiful products. They celebrate originality, clever thinking, quality manufacturing and the exciting talent that continues to emerge from Australian design. Whether you're interested in furniture, lighting, décor or product design, the VIVID Awards offer a glimpse into where our industry is heading.
Equally inspiring is the extensive Seminar Series. Throughout the event, leading designers, architects, trend forecasters and industry experts share practical knowledge, global trends and real project experiences. It's one thing to read about design online, but hearing directly from professionals who work at the forefront of our industry is an opportunity that's difficult to match. Whether you're an established designer or just beginning your career, there's always something new to learn.
Another area I recommend making time for is the Green Design Show. Sustainability is no longer an optional extra; it's becoming central to the way we design and build. This dedicated space showcases products, materials and technologies that help create healthier, more environmentally responsible homes and commercial spaces. For anyone wanting to stay ahead of changing expectations from clients and the industry, it's well worth exploring.
Of course, the exhibition floor itself is reason enough to attend. Hundreds of exhibitors present their latest collections, from furniture and lighting to finishes, textiles, surfaces and accessories. It's the perfect chance to compare products firsthand, discover new suppliers and have the conversations that simply don't happen through a catalogue or website.

For me, one of the greatest pleasures of Decor + Design is catching up with friends and colleagues from across the industry. Design has always been about sharing ideas, and nowhere is that more evident than here. If you're planning to visit, don't simply wander the aisles. Set aside time for the seminars, make time to interact with the Green Design exhibitors, and make sure you visit the VIVID Design Awards. Together they transform Decor + Design from a trade exhibition into one of Australia's most inspiring annual design experiences.
But if you're not in the industry, don't worry = you won't miss out!
I'll be walking the exhibition floor, interviewing exhibitors and sharing the most exciting products, colours, materials and trends LIVE from Melbourne across my Instagram and Facebook channels. If you love beautiful homes and great design, follow along as I bring you all the highlights direct from the show floor.
See you at Decor + Design... whether in Melbourne or online!
