A big part of my day is spent on the road, moving between building sites, showrooms, client homes and industry events. Like many others, I start with the news, but it doesn’t take long before I’m ready for something a little more uplifting and insightful. That’s when I switch to podcasts.

Some I follow regularly, others I discover along the way, and they’ve become one of the easiest ways to keep learning while on the move. I’m naturally drawn to conversations around homes, building and renovating, not just for the products, but for the thinking behind them. There’s always something new to take away.

Over the years, and thanks to decades of experience in the industry, I’m often invited to be interviewed or take part in podcasts to share what I’ve learnt, how I approach my work, and how I run my business. When time allows, I’m always happy to say yes. Do I repeat myself in these conversations? Perhaps, but the beauty of participating to different podcasts is that each host brings a unique perspective, and the answers always respond to that new angle.

If, like me, you spend a fair bit of time driving, or simply enjoy listening to something that teaches or entertains, you might appreciate knowing what I like to listen to... Here are three podcasts I’ve recently been part of: 'Made to Build' by HIA, explores the building process from a builder’s perspective, 'A Designers Perspective" by McRae & Linch offers a view on what it means to be an interior designer, and "The Edit" by Home Beautiful looks at creating and styling homes with unique personality.

Of course, there are many more podcast channels out there, and if you come across one that really resonates, share it. Let others with similar interests discover it too.

However, next time you’ve had enough of the news cycle, and even music starts to feel like background noise, there’s another simple option. Turn it all off. Silence can be a surprisingly good companion. A moment to think, reset, and let your own ideas take centre stage :)
